Title: The Cultural Heritage of My Town
Project’s Description
Today,
when the promotion of domestic and foreign tourism has particular importance, the main consideration
for all people should be how to introduce the cultural heritage of their place
to people living in another city or other countries. Through this project, students will explore and understand the cultural
heritage of their own city, the traditions and values that the city lives with.
Students will try to introduce their corner sights on a large scale to all
interested people, discuss their importance and present detailed information in
an interesting way to the general public.
Project’s
Short Aims
The project aims :
Ø Students will develop the ability to research, obtain and
organize historical monuments of their own corner;
Ø Students will develop positions on a specific issue;
Ø Students
will be able to take a critical approach and defend it;
Ø Students
will be able to integrate the knowledge gained in different subjects in
relation to a specific issue;
Ø Students
introduce the acquired knowledge in the form of a presentation and using
various technical or printed means to the general public;
Ø Students
will create the necessary resources in both Georgian and English.
Process
Description
Main activities:
Ø October: Students
are divided into groups. One group will be responsible for finding and
interpreting written sources, another group will collect myths preserved among
the people if legends about sacred things exist, a third group will work on
photos and videos, and a fourth group will carry out architectural
observations. The received material will be presented in the form of a
presentation and information will be exchanged. An appropriate discussion will
be held.
Ø November: The
created groups will work on studying the physical geographical features of the
city (geographical location, nature, rivers, mountains, terrain, plant and
animal cover), and visualizing.
Ø December:
Information on the cultural characteristics of cities will be found and
visualized (traditions, theater, cinema, holidays, art, folklore). Based on the
research material, a wall newspaper will be decorated and a presentation will
be held.
Ø January: A final
resource, a bilingual booklet for interested people, a tourist map and two
padlet boards for partner schools where work materials will be posted in a
sequential manner will be created. A presentation will be held and the results
will be evaluated.
Expected Results
Based on the obtained material and the researches, the
students will create a bilingual brochure, as a tourist guide, will create a route map
that helps the interested
person to get acquainted with a foreign city. Presentations will be held where
partner schools will present the results of their work. Also, the retrieved
material will be posted on the Internet with all the news. The project also
encourages students from different regions and countries to make friends and
develop collaborative skills in them. They will be interested in the history,
ethnography of their own corner and with great interest will study the
monuments in their own corner, which will help to protect and popularize the
values of their own corner.
